Washington Byways

TONY HUEGEL

The newest addition to Tony Huegel's Backcountry Byways series presents over 50 carefully selected backcountry trips on gravel tracks, old wagon and mining routes, and active logging roads.

Washington Byways takes you and your family to the Olympic Peninsula's soaring mountains, the volcanic cones of the Cascades, the Snake River country's precipitous canyons, and the golden hills of the Palouse. With Huegel as your scout, you'll find and explore dozens of roads and landscapes.

--56 trips on Washington's backroads

--Full-page maps, detailed descriptions, and photos, all in a unique glove-box size

--"At-a-glance" icons that show you the best hiking, biking, and camping opportunities, as well as trips featuring wildlife, historic sites, and incredible views

These trips tour impressively diverse terrain, climate zones, and vegetation. You'll be at sea level on Long Beach and climb to 7000 feet in the North Cascades; you'll turn on the windshield wipers in the Olympic Peninsula's cool rainforests and roll down the windows on the Columbia Basin's warm sagebrush steppe. Washington Byways is all you need to discover the Evergreen State.

The Belomo 10x handlens is definitely a wonderful tool. A Hastings triplet design that is built like a Swiss bank vault. Optics are superb (razor sharp and bright) with a much wider field of view than my Bausch & Lomb 10x Hastings - which for entomology is a big plus! My collection of hand lenses is fairly large and I also use stereo microscopes for my work, but the Belomo can always be in your pocket ready to use anywhere and enjoy at any time. Its heirloom sturdiness will provide many years of visual pleasure. My first order got lost in the mail and the great folks at Amateur Geologist didn't bat an eye and sent another which was very kind, proving that they're definitely there to help their customers. My sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to them for their fabulous service and wonderful products.
