Amateur Geologist, Inc :: Shipping Information

Shipping Information
As a stocking merchant, Amateur Geologist strives to pack and ship all orders on the same business day that we receive them.

Our business day are Mondays through Fridays and, for UPS same day shipping, our shipping day ends at 1:30pm Pacific Time (our UPS pickup is at 2:30pm).

Packages shipped by US Mail are picked up the next business day.

Our mail is picked up too early in the morning for us to have processed and packed any orders. Orders shipping by mail and orders shipping by UPS placed after our close of shipping are picked up the next business day.

Orders shipping by US Mail placed on Friday will be packaged on Friday, will be picked up on Saturday, but do not leave our town until Monday, the next business day following Friday.

We can't ship on Saturday, Sunday or a holiday as pickups are not made on those days. UPS does not honor the same holidays as USPS so we're able to ship on more Federal holidays using UPS.

We recommend shipping by UPS. UPS is much more reliable on deliveries. UPS provides package tracking and guaranteed delivery day. USPS offers neither.
UPS Ground travel time estimate.

I've supplied a UPS Ground travel time estimate map here. I update the map periodically as UPS routing changes can change the travel time. I recommend that if you're trying to time the arrival of your package but still save money an use UPS Ground that you check the current map. To get the current UPS delivery travel time estimate map to your area use this link: UPS Ground Map. Remember travel time is in business days where your package only travels non-holiday weekdays.

USPS Express Mail takes 1-3 days depending upon whether you live downtown in a major city, a major city suburb or a rural area. Normally USPS Priority Mail takes 2-4 days but in 10% of the time it takes much longer. USPS First-Class Mail takes 2-4 days, too. Delivery times for USPS Parrcel Post are roughly the same as for UPS Ground. USPS does NOT provide a guaranteed delivery time.

Only USPS Express Mail offers tracking information. If you use USPS once the package has been turned over to the post office then there's no way for either you or for us to know where a package is until it is delivered. After a package is 3 weeks late we can replace the contents of your package once we have received a signed did not receive statement from you.

Product Review Product Review

The Belomo 10x handlens is definitely a wonderful tool. A Hastings triplet design that is built like a Swiss bank vault. Optics are superb (razor sharp and bright) with a much wider field of view than my Bausch & Lomb 10x Hastings - which for entomology is a big plus! My collection of hand lenses is fairly large and I also use stereo microscopes for my work, but the Belomo can always be in your pocket ready to use anywhere and enjoy at any time. Its heirloom sturdiness will provide many years of visual pleasure. My first order got lost in the mail and the great folks at Amateur Geologist didn't bat an eye and sent another which was very kind, proving that they're definitely there to help their customers. My sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to them for their fabulous service and wonderful products.
