International Shipping:
International Shipments are subject to an import tax by your country. We
can not tell you if your country will require such a tax and how much
it would be. Check with your customs service. Don't ask. We do not
forge custom documents.
Credit cards and PayPal payments require us to ship packages with
insurance and proof of delivery. We're sorry but USPS Express Mail
International is the cheapest method that provides those services.
We can offer cheaper international shipping if you pay using an
international money order payable in US Dollars or transfer
(international wire) the money, in US Dollars, to our bank account.
There is a $10 service charge for wire transfer. All international
packages shipped using a shipping service other than USPS Express Mail
International (or UPS services) are not
insured and do not offer tracking. Shipping is FOB Lone Pine,
CA, USA and you assume all risks. For light weight packages First Class
Mail International or Priority Mail International may save considerable
money but for heavier, and more expensive) packages there is maybe a 10%
difference.
For orders valued at under $50 we may, at our choice, offer First Class
International Mail. These packages are not insured and do not offer
tracking.
Addressing of Packages
Be very careful and clear in providing your shipping information. Many international addresses are much more complicated than US addresses and we may not be able to determine the correct address.
We suggest you:
- Include your address correctly formatted in the order's notes field.
- The best idea is to send us a .jpg image or a .pdf file of your address. This will be attached to your package to make handling and delivery more reliable in your country. (Do not send a Word Document File. We do not accept any files capable of carrying viruses.)
If your package can not be delivered as addressed it will be returned to us. See below.
Limitations
For products shipped internationally, any manufacturer warranty may not be valid; manufacturer
service may not be available; product manuals, instructions and
safety warnings may not be in destination country languages; the
products (and accompanying materials) may not be designed in accordance
with destination country standards, specifications, and labeling
requirements; and the products may not conform to destination country
voltage and other electrical standards (requiring use of an adapter or
converter if appropriate). You are responsible for assuring that the
product can be lawfully imported to the destination country. When
ordering the recipient is the importer of record and
must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination country.
Customs, Duties, and Taxes
You are responsible for assuring
that the product can be lawfully imported to the destination country.
When ordering from Amateur Geologist, the recipient is the importer of record
and must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination
country. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United
States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by
the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may
be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are
levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for
customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; we have no control
over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies
vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local
customs office for further information. When customs clearance
procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original
delivery estimates.
Refusing to Pay Import Tax
If you refuse your package due to the taxes required or any other reason, your package will
be returned to us and treated as a normal return of merchandise.
Returned Packages
If for any reason your package is returned to us it will be treated as a return of merchandise. Only
the cost of the merchandise will be refunded.
If your package was sent by a service other than USPS Express Mail International the post office will charge for the return shipping. The cost of this return shipping cost will be deducted from the refund of the merchandise.
