Jurassic A period in the geologic time scale that spans from 208 to 144 million years ago.

joint A large and relatively planar fracture in a rock across which there is no relative displacement of the two sides.
juvenile gas Gases that come to the surface for the first time from the deep interior.
jökulhlaup Icelandic term for glacial outburst flood. Jökulhlaup's are sudden outbursts of water released by a glacier. The water may be released from glacier cavities, sub-glacial lakes, and from glacier-dammed lakes in side valleys.
