Anza-Borrego Desert Region : A Guide to the State Park and Adjacent Areas of the Western Colorado Desert
Anza-Borrego Desert Region : A Guide to the State Park and Adjacent Areas of the Western Colorado Desert
The Anza-Borrego and Western Colorado Desert Region is a vast and intriguing land spanning much of San Diego County and parts of Riverside and Imperial Counties. From the first Native Americans through today's weekend vacationers, many people have called this desert home. The fascinating landscape harbor piney mountain crags, a windy inland sea, and a rich variety of desert plants and animals, all within two to three hours' travel time from major California cities.

This new edition covers much more than previous editions, reaching deep into the Colorado Desert of Southern California, and drawing on the authors' more than 20 years experience of exploring every hillock and wash of Califronia's largest state park. While most described routes are on roads, good and bad, this unique book also takes the explorer to many, less-traveled secret places in wilderness areas.

A guide for hikers, off-road travelers, equestrians, mountain bikers, photographers, and campers, this book includes: comprehensive road and trail logs, including UTM coordinates; a foldout backpocket map, plus area maps in the book; an expanded Desert Dictionary--a useful list of agencies, accommodations, and facilities in the region; and colorful historical anecdotes and lots of interpretive details.

The Belomo 10x handlens is definitely a wonderful tool. A Hastings triplet design that is built like a Swiss bank vault. Optics are superb (razor sharp and bright) with a much wider field of view than my Bausch & Lomb 10x Hastings - which for entomology is a big plus! My collection of hand lenses is fairly large and I also use stereo microscopes for my work, but the Belomo can always be in your pocket ready to use anywhere and enjoy at any time. Its heirloom sturdiness will provide many years of visual pleasure. My first order got lost in the mail and the great folks at Amateur Geologist didn't bat an eye and sent another which was very kind, proving that they're definitely there to help their customers. My sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to them for their fabulous service and wonderful products.
